Theatre In Exile / Théâtre En Exile is a Brooklyn based company founded in 2013 by artist Samuel James Wilson as a means of maintaining artistic autonomy and creating works that are timely, visually vibrant, emotionally charged.
TIE’s then worked on a multimedia adaptation of Harold Pinter’s Mountain Language was seen at The Silent Barn in Brooklyn, NY and was the follow-up to 2013’s The Big Mzungu of Kilwa Kivinje and the end to a year-long hiatus.
Lately the company has begun work on an episodic project, Amerigo ’13. The first episode, Watermelon Sky (for Annie L. Burton) was seen at the !?: New Works Festival presented by Title:Point at The Silent Barn. The reaction to our work there is fuelling our fire to continue on this adventurous experiment in theatrical form.
More recently, Theatre In Exile completed a filming of Amerigo ’13, Ep.1, and will be presenting our work online shortly. Stay tuned.
